Yes. New versions of Jammit will be released as we continue to make improvements. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified about Jammit updates and all things Jammit.
1) If there is an update available in the App store: Follow the instructions which will replace your current Jammit app with the essential Jammit upgrade.
2) Update your previously purchased songs: Sign in to your Jammit account. Click on the “Account” button and select “Check Purchases”. If there is content to update, you should get an alert indicating that you have several songs to download. These will effectively replace all the Jammit tracks that you have previously purchased with the latest versions fully compatible with the new app.
Yes. Jammit will be released in other languages. However, the great library of songs on the Jammit platform will continue to be the original master recordings in English.
Yes. There are plans to create an assistive version of Jammit using Apple’s Accessibility API.
The first time you use it, it will ask you to log in to Facebook using your Facebook username and password. It will then ask you if you would like to accept postings from the Jammit device. If you decide to accept, each time you press the Facebook “Share” icon, you will be asked if you would like to post the following message on your Facebook wall: “your name is jamming with the original master multi-tracks of “song name” by “artist” on Jammit!”
Go to Facebook.com and to your Account setting to ensure you are using the correct username and password. Also, be sure that you are connected to the Internet properly.
The option cannot be removed. However, without configuring the application to specifically post to Facebook, it simply will not do so.
Deletion of the App will require a re-installation. Once you’ve installed the app, you can log in with your ID and password as you have previously done. The Jammit App will sense that the songs you had purchased are not on your device and will give you the option to download them.
The most common problems that prevent users from successfully logging in are as follows:
Lack of Internet Connectivity : Check your internet connection from the device by starting another application that uses the Internet. For instance, start your browser and visit Jammit.com or another site. If the site is displayed, you have a good Internet connection.
Incorrect Account Name and/or Password: You may have entered your username incorrectly. If you signed up for Jammit using your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, you received a “Welcome” email that includes your username. Search your email for “Welcome to Jammit !” in the subject line of your emails. This email will provide you with your username.
If your password is incorrect, use the “Email My Password” option in the app.
You can share the content that you purchase on up to 3 of your personal devices.
Press the "Library" button in the top left corner of the screen, then select "My Account" (top left corner) and press "Deauthorize Device." Please note that doing so will remove all content from the device and use of Jammit on the device with your account will no longer be possible.
A formal request will need to be submitted to Jammit with details of the original reason for your de-authorization.
In order to discourage illegal file sharing, you only have access to the content that you have purchased by logging in to your Jammit user account. Once you’re logged in and you’ve downloaded your purchased songs, it’s not necessary to be connected to the Internet to use Jammit.
Sign out if you are sharing a device or would like to access another Jammit account on the same device. It’s also worth noting that even though a device may be used by more than 1 Jammit username (account), each user can only play the songs that have been purchased by the username that is logged in.
When using the app on your device, go to the Library and in the top left corner, click on “My Account”. From there, select “Sign Out”.
If you want to sign out of your account on the Jammit.com website, simply click the Log out link on the top right of the website.

An iso track is short for isolated track. In Jammit, the part that you want to learn to play is the iso track. An example of an “iso” track is Richie Blackmore’s guitar on Smoke on the Water, Neil Peart’s Drums on Limelight and others. Jammit songs may have a 1 or 2 “iso” tracks and the isolated instruments may be guitar, bass, drums, vocals and/or keyboards. Jammit will likely also release other instruments on isolation tracks for specific songs.
The band track is everything minus the iso track. An example of this would be Foreigner’s Juke Box Hero without the guitar part.
The click track provides a timing reference for you to play with the band and/or iso track. This is like a metronome device used to keep time during practice. The click track on Jammit songs is matched exactly to the down beats of the original master recordings.
The user track is the track that you record onto.
The input track is reserved for future use.
In iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) you press the little gear icon (upper right in the interface when a song is loaded into the player) and select click sound to be able to choose between a cowbell or side stick. In OS X, select the preferences under the Jammit menu item at the top of your screen.
By pressing on the little arrow in the green circle by the time line above the scrolling waveform, you can navigate instantly to any of the available song sections.
Information about the song you have loaded will appear. This includes an image of the album cover, information about the release, the songwriters, the year released, the genre, the BPM (beats per minute) and tuning.
This will display the options you have for your recorded track. You can erase the recording or email the recording you’ve made on the “User” track to your friends or teacher.
The timeline green ball shows you where you are in the song and can also be slid for fast navigation.
The waveform can also be used for fine-tuned navigation. You can slide the waveform to the left or right to rewind or advance your playback position within the song.
Older recordings may have been tracked live and you can hear some of the other individual instruments through the bleed in the room when they were recorded. Also, sometimes the rights holders feel it necessary to embed some of the mix into the isolated tracks in an attempt to deter illicit use.
By pressing the loop button (the second button at the bottom of the application next the “Slow” button) you engage the looping feature of the software. The default loop length may be adjusted in the preferences. You can drag the start and end points of the looped section over the waveform display to make the looped region longer or shorter.
Go to the part of the song you wish to loop and then press the “Loop” button (the second button at the bottom of the application next to the “Slow” button). When the button is pressed, a white loop will appear on top of the green waveform at the bottom of the application. You may increase the loop length by using your fingers on the white loop and stretching it to increase the loop length.
Press the little gear icon in the top right hand corner and select the default loop length option.
Press the “Slow” button on the bottom left of the application. This button acts as a toggle and can be used to switch between slow and normal speed playback.
No. The song is played at a slower speed but the pitch remains the same.
The current version of Jammit does not. However, will have a new version of Jammit that will provide this functionality in the future.
Yes. Two icons in the upper right section of the player on iOS allow you to select Standard Notation ( G Clef Symbol ) or Tab Notation (Fretboard icon).
At the top of the screen there will be buttons for each part (i.e. guitar 1, guitar 2, drum 1, drum 2). Additionally, when you view the notation, it will reflect the chosen isolated instrument part such as guitar 1 or guitar 2.
On the iPad, double tap the notation to expand or collapse from full-page notation mode.
Yes. Specifically, during Drum song playback, there will be a “Key” button which appears only in Notation mode. Tapping the “Key” button will reveal the legend that describes the notes that correlate to specific drums.
Link Score to Scrollbar synchronizes the timeline scrollbar to the notation so you can instantly see the score move to wherever your finger slides the scrollbar. While this can be useful to spot through a song and navigate through the notation in real time without pressing play, you may find that the scrollbar response is slower with this function enabled.
Proper recording into Jammit on an iOS device requires a pair of headphones with a built-in mic. That mic can pick up the sound of your instrument in the room as you listen through the headphones. Other input devices like the Griffin GuitarConnect Cable or the IK Multimedia iRig can allow you to plug an output from your amp simulator hardware directly into your device. You can monitor your instrument through Jammit as you record so you’ll be able to hear yourself while recording.

You can monitor your instrument through Jammit as you record so you’ll be able to hear yourself while recording.
If you’d prefer to hear the instrument input sound coming through the USER track/fader instead of the sound of the track you may have previously recorded, you can use Input Only mode in the recording settings. This can be useful if you would like to work out a part while playing the other tracks in Jammit without recording. If you’d like to capture your performance and hear back your recording, you must return to Auto Input mode.
Auto Input mode allows you to hear your instrument input as you are recording it and then hear what you’ve recorded on playback. It is recommended that you record using Auto Input mode (default).
If you do not use headphones while recording, the playback from the App will be heard by the built in mic of your iPad.
Punch mode: Pressing record while you are playing the song will immediately start recording until you press record again (to punch out) or press the pause button.
Default pre and post roll can be changed in the preferences menu.
Your recording is stored on the device. It can be emailed and/or erased using the “e” button.
When you finish recording, press the "e" button at the top of the screen to reveal the email recording function. You must have your Mail application set up properly and be connected to the Internet for this to work.
Yes. To do so, you will need an input device like the Griffin GuitarConnect Cable or the IK Multimedia iRig which will allow you to plug an output from your amp simulator hardware directly into your device.
While Jammit is no substitute for your favorite recording software, it can be a great “scratch pad” for recording ideas and capturing your performance for learning purposes. The cleanest way to record into Jammit is to use 3rd party analog input interfaces like the Griffin GuitarConnect Cable or the IK Multimedia iRig. You can also use the built –in microphone in your device. In either case, you must use headphones in order to isolate the part that you’re recording from the sound of the other tracks coming from Jammit.
New Jammit songs can be purchased as an in app purchase (iPhone, iPod touch and iPad) by pressing the store button. You can also purchase songs directly from Jammit.com

In your library there are sort category buttons at the bottom of the screen. You can sort by Song, Artist, Instrument, or Most Recent.
Send an email to songrequest@jammit.com with your request.
Swipe to the right on a song title. This will reveal a “Delete” button that allows you to delete the song from the device you are using. Doing this also sets the song to “Disable Download” in the “My Content” page on the Jammit.com site for your account. You can change this later if needed.
Songs must be removed one at a time.
No. Removal of the song from one device will not affect the others. You may also re-enable sync of a deleted song by setting it for download in the “My Content” page on Jammit.com
Yes. Log into your account on Jammit.com. Click on the “My Content” link. This will lead to a list of your songs in the “My Content” page. This page allows you to select a device and control which songs will download to the selected device.
The songs you’ve purchased are always associated with your Jammit.com username and account. Prior to selling your iPad, de-authorize the device. This is done by clicking "My Account" > "De-Authorize". Following this, you can connect with your new device and the songs will be downloaded to it.

Jammit is the first music software solution that isolates individual audio tracks from the original multi-track masters spanning the history of popular music from the 1960s to present.
Jammit songs are created from the original multi-track master tapes that have individual control over each instrument. Jammit software gives you this type of control over the element in the mix that you want to isolate and learn to play. For example, the guitar version of a Jammit-authored song will allow you to adjust the level of the guitar independent from the rest of the mix.
Jammit formatted content is derived only from the original master recordings and not re-recorded cover versions. As musicians ourselves, we know the difference between a copy and the real thing...and you will too. Jammit engineers painstakingly re-create the sound of the final mix using the original multi-track recordings that we all know and love. The result is an incredible play-along experience!
Yes. We have licensed all of the original records from the corresponding rights holders and ensure everyone gets paid accordingly.
Learning music is difficult. Most of us are motivated to learn to play songs that we love to listen to. The problem occurs with trying to figure out what the instrument is doing within a dense mix. If playing the part authentically is important to you, then being able to hear that instrument by itself is the key to learning how to play it exactly the way it was recorded originally.
Some songs have two isolated parts; some have only one depending on the arrangement of the song.
Jammit songs go through an involved production process of licensing, finding master tapes, digital transfers, mix re-creations, stemming, transcribing and authoring before it hits your device.
Jammit licenses songs before creating Jammit versions of them. Once licensed, Jammit must retrieve the original master recordings, re-engineer them, and mix them down to work with Jammit. This ultimately results in the great features and experience that Jammit provides.

Make sure you have Internet connectivity. The “Try it Out” feature must connect to the Internet to perform the demo functions of Jammit.
You are allowed to use the app on up to 3 different devices. If you have received this message, you need to go to one of your other devices and de-authorize it. De-authorizing on other devices will result in that device not being usable with Jammit however.
Check your device "Auto-Lock" feature. Auto-lock is similar to a screen saver. It puts the device to sleep after some number of minutes. You can change this setting so that downloads and song playback do not stop when the device goes to sleep. Change the auto-lock setting by Clicking "Settings > General > Auto-Lock" and set the setting to Never. Also, you may need to turn restrictions off in the settings panel to allow the Auto-lock change to be made.
Examples:
If this problems is only experienced on some (but not all) songs, there may be a problem with the song content itself. Delete the song by performing a swipe motion to the right on the song title in the library. This will reveal a “Delete” button.
In the App go to the Library and click “My Account > Check Purchases”
If the problem persists after download, contact Jammit Support.
Make sure your mic is not obscured or blocked. If you wish to record only what you are playing or singing, you will need to use headphones while recording. This will prevent Jammit playback from bleeding into the mic.
Some mobile device email software will start and allow you to create and send an email. However, the email is not actually sent until an Internet connection is available. Make sure you have an Internet connection.
Stuck downloads are typically the result of an interrupted Internet connection. Make sure you have a stable Internet connection.
Ensure that Internet connectivity was not lost; Ensure that Auto-Lock is set to never ( Auto-lock makes the device go to sleep after X minutes and this will interrupt the download process );
Also check the device space available using Settings > General > About ( and review Available - Jammit Songs are typically 30 to 150 mb in size, so this amount of space x 5 is needed as a minimum ).
Ensure Internet Connectivity; If Internet connectivity is in place, go to the My Content page on the Jammit.com site. Verify that the songs you purchased are in the My Content page. If the songs are in the My Content page, ensure that they are already set to download for the device you are using (the Jammit equipped device). If the songs are not set for download, enable them to download.
