On July 7th, 1992, Dream Theater's Images and Words was released in the US. The band would go on to release 9 studio albums since then and dominate the prog metal genre. In celebration of this event, we're releasing "Learning to Live", the most epic song from the record (at over eleven and a half minutes long) on Jammit. This is our third song from this album with the rest scheduled regularly before we move on to another DT record. For those who have a Line 6 Mobile In (for iPad and iPhone), like the other DT songs in our library, the guitar version does include the authentic Line 6 patches that match your guitar tone to the ones played by John Petrucci on the original recording.
Guitar and bass players will also notice that we've improved our tablature format to include rhythm stems! Eventually all our tabs will be presented in this format, though it will take some time to adjust all pre-existing songs. Thanks for all the users who suggested this upgrade!
When at all possible, we like to share with you some of the original documentation that we come across while formating the original multi-track masters for Jammit software. "Learning to Live" was recorded on 48 tracks on a Sony Dash mult-track tape machine at Bear Tracks in Suffern, New York.
We hope you enjoy this song as much as we did preparing it for this release. Watch for the other tracks from Images and Words in the coming weeks.
